In the movie The Perfect Storm, George Clooney and his other commercial fishermen crew sail into storms. They have found that in the storms, they are able to catch a larger proportion of fish than when they try to catch fish without the storms.
One of the biggest storms in my life was creating the Dance Like Zach movement. I thought I was crazy. I was a great dancer and I was just beginning my journey as a professional dancer. And then, I saw a storm. I saw the huge need to help people be able to drink clean and healthy water.
I remember lying in bed. It was 1:30 in the morning. I was staring at the ceiling thinking, "What? I'm going to lead a movement? I'm going to help people spread love and joy? I'm going to give water to the thirsty? I can't do any of that! I'm just a dancer! How am I supposed to do that?"
It was a storm.
And I knew, somehow deep in my gut, that I needed to sail into it. If I wanted to live a life fully alive, I needed to sail into the storm.
Where are the storms in your life? Where are the places you need to go to get the big catch? Where will you find the greatest catch?
In the storm, you have no idea. Really, you have no idea what you will find. Now, I don't recommend going to actually chase storms. I just recommend you try jumping on your boat and sailing into a storm metaphorically. Throw the net out and see what you catch(again, I just like using metaphors). Here's some storms that might be in your life.
Talk to your boss about the great idea you have, even though he doesn't like change. Ask that boy out on a date. Go skydiving. Sing karaoke. Say, "Forgive me". Say, "I forgive you".
You don't have to sail into the storm, that's fine. But I'm going out into the storm. Who's with me?
